An additional card has been announced for the Special Single Match at “QUINTET.4,” which will take place on September 10th at Yokohama Arena: Haruki Ishiguro will face V.V Mei. Ishiguro, who made her debut in QUINTET FN2 against Rikako Yuasa, and led TEAM CARPE DIEM to a decisive victory in an all-women’s tournament at QUINTET FN6. She has since earned her black belt, cementing her reputation as one of the leading fighters in Japan’s jiu-jitsu world.
Her opponent, V.V Mei, is a veteran in Japanese women’s grappling who also holds a black belt in jiu-jitsu. Although her first appearance in QUINTET, V.V Mei demonstrated her prowess last March in a grappling match against jiu-jitsu standout Danielle Kelly at a ONE event, which ended in a draw. Will Ishiguro prove that she’s no easy opponent when she faces off against V.V Mei? Fans can expect an intense match as both skilled fighters aim for the submission.
Additionally, TEAM SAKURABA has confirmed Harry Grech as the fifth member of their team. A disciple of Josh Barnett, Grech was inspired by Kazushi Sakuraba’s signature move, the Kimura lock, during a seminar led by Sakuraba himself. He has since mastered the technique to such an extent that he has even released instructional videos on it, earning him a reputation as a “global Kimura expert.” His expertise will undoubtedly be a valuable asset to TEAM SAKURABA, and all eyes will be on Grech to see if he unleashes his signature Kimura lock during the competition.
Additionally, Eoghan O Flanagan, originally announced as a member of TEAM POLARIS, has withdrawn from the event due to a knee injury. He will be replaced by Jed Hue.
With this, the full lineup for the team competition is set. Each team boasts an exciting array of athletes, making potential matchups incredibly thrilling to anticipate. Tickets for the event are on sale now, so don’t miss the intense action live at the venue!
